Increases the minimum and maximum focal length by the power of 2.0x.Extra Description
Style: Sigma SLR Cameras The Sigma APO Teleconverter 2x EX DG for Canon Digital SLR Cameras is a dedicated APO teleconverter that can be mounted between select lenses and the camera body to increase the focal length by the power of two. The multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghostingc which is a common problem with digital cameras. The lens also offers maximum magnification without any variation in the minimum focusing distance. Compact and lightweightc this teleconverter can convert your lenses into longer focal-length lensesc so you dont have to do a lot of unnecessary footwork. A case for the lens is included.
The reason I purchased this lens was to take pictures during Friday night high school football games. I have used the canon and Sigma versions in the past for daytime baseball and Friday night football photos and was very pleased with the performance of both versions. This Sigma tele-converter did not live up to my expectations. In all honestyc judging the performance of this tele-converter/extenderc I may have just gotten a bad version. br brAs expected with a 2x tele-converter you will lose a couple of stops in your aperture value. I am using a Canon 7D Mark II along with a couple of high-powered photography editing software so shooting at a higher ISO to compensate for the aperture loss was acceptable. I could remove any noise and adjust exposure during my post processing work. br brWhat I did not expect was the soft images and slow focusing when using the tele-converter. There are also very visible lens aberrations on many of my photos when using the tele-converter. br brThe Good: br 1. Much cheaper than purchasing a 2.8 300 mm lens br 2. Easily fits into your camera bag or even a pocket br 3. Doubles your lens distance at an affordable price br 4. Slightly matted paint finish looks really good and matches my Sigma 70-200 mm lens br brThe Not-So Good: br 1. Images are much softer when using this tele-converter br 2. Focusing seems slower br 3. There is very visible lens aberrations on many of my photos when using the tele-converter br brCamera Type: Canon 7D Mark II brUsed with the following lens: Sigma 2.8 70-200mm br brPlease vote Helpful if you found this review helpful. :-)
