Extra Description

Samyang SYHD8M-S 8mm f/3.5 HD Lens with Removable Hood for Sony Alpha

Style: Sony Alpha This is Samyangs newest fisheye lens for Sony Alpha DSLR Camera. It features some great new features that are not available on Samyangs first highly rated 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens. Optics and glass are high definition (HD) with very clear & sharp images. This lens also features a removable hood which can make it easier for use on full frame cameras. While this lens is designed for APS-C sensorsc full frame users can now use it comfortable without the hood. On APS-C camerasc the pictures will fill the entire frame or screen. On full frame camerasc the lens will produce pictures with a semi-circular image and close images will appear proportionately large for a dramatic effect.

When i first saw this fisheye lens being advertised on Amazon i must admit i had my fair share of doubts. I had never thought to myself the possibility of buying a fully manual lens and it seemed to me as if it would be a hassle to own such equipment. Oh how i was wrong. br brThis Samyang 8mm CS II lens has the largest depth of field i have ever seenc i simply set the focusing to beyond infinity and provided Im taking a picture of something at least 1m awayc everything in view will be perfectly clear. br brThe lens is insanely sharp in closeupsc however it can be soft when zooming in on things in the distance if at an aperture of F3.5 br brThe very second you bump up the aperture to F5.6 or F8 or even F11 the sharpness of this lens of subjects especially in the distance improves unimaginablyc so much so that at F11 it is maybe my sharpest lens. I would definitely recommend simply leaving this lens at F8 or F11 preferablyc set at Infinity and would only ever change it if lighting was bad and a smaller F number is needed where an increase in ISO would not be justifiable. br brIn conclusionc for the measly price of $300 this lens is an insane bargain and i got to hand it to Samyang for making a terrific piece of glass. br brP.S. the focusing ring is probably the best dampened and smoothest ring i have ever had the pleasure to use. 5/5 stars :-)
