As someone who enjoys using a flash for photography, I was thrilled to try out the NEEWER Z1-N TTL Round Head Flash Speedlite. The flash promises a perfect lighting effect, powerful functions, high capacity and fast recycling, and wide compatibility, but did it live up to the hype? Read on to find out.

One thing that immediately caught my eye about the NEEWER Z1-N flash is its circular Fresnel head. This unique design produces a more even light distribution from center to edge, creating softer, more natural falloff at the edges. The result is stunning lighting effect that truly enhances the quality of my photos. Additionally, the flash's color temperature remains stable at 5600K (±200K), ensuring consistent results.

Another aspect of the NEEWER Z1-N flash that I enjoyed is its versatility. The flash has a high power of 76Ws and can be used in TTL auto, manual, stroboscopic, and optical slave modes (S1/S2). It also features a high speed sync of 1/8000s, first curtain/second curtain sync, flash exposure compensation (FEC), flash exposure bracketing (FEB), and flash exposure lock (FEL). These functions give me complete control over the lighting in my photographs, allowing me to produce the exact results I desire.

The flash can be adjusted from 0° to 330° horizontally and -7° to 120° vertically, providing immense flexibility when shooting. I appreciate the fact that this feature lets me experiment with various angles and achieve creative shots that I wouldn't be able to capture otherwise.

The NEEWER Z1-N flash also comes with a built-in 2.4G Wireless Q System with 4 groups (M/A/B/C), 32 channels (1-32), and 99 ID (1-99). This system is compatible with Q-N/QPro-N TTL transmitters (both not included) and can be used as a Master/Slave flash to control other flashes within a transmission range of up to 328’/100m (no obstacles). This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for flash photography and allows me to expand my creative horizons.

The 2W LED modeling lamp is another standout feature of the NEEWER Z1-N flash. It has 10 adjustable brightness levels from 01 to 10, making it easy to experiment with different lighting scenarios and achieve the desired results.

As for the flash's battery life, I found the 7.4V 2600mAh lithium battery (NB-Z1) to be long-lasting and efficient. It takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes for a full charge and provides 480 full power flashes with a 1.5s fast recycling time. This is impressive and ensures that the flash won't slow me down during a photoshoot.

Lastly, the NEEWER Z1-N flash is compatible with a wide range of Nikon DSLR cameras, including the D4, D5, D6, D60, D70S, D90, D100, D200, D300S, D300, D500, D610, D700, D750, D780, D800, D810, D850, D3100, D3200, D3300, D3400, D3500, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5600, D7000, D7100, D7200, D7500, Z6II and Z7II Models. It can also be upgraded via USB firmware if any incompatibility issues arise.

Overall, I am pleased with the NEEWER Z1-N TTL Round Head Flash Speedlite. Its perfect lighting effect, powerful functions, high capacity and fast recycling, and wide compatibility make it an excellent investment for any photographer looking to enhance their flash photography. With its unique design and versatile features, it's clear why this product has received a 4.5 out of 5 stars customer review rating.
