Mektron for MacBook Pro 16 - Review

As a MacBook Pro user, I know the importance of protecting its surface against scratches, dust, and normal wear and tear. That’s why I decided to try out the Mektron Anti-Scratch Trackpad Skin Trackpad Protector Cover for my MacBook Pro 16” 2021 release model.

The Mektron Trackpad Protector is a specially designed cover for the trackpad and palm rest area of the MacBook Pro 16” 2021 model with touch ID, A2485 M1 Pro/Max chip. The cover is constructed with high-quality materials and comes in a sleek silver color that matches the MacBook Pro 16” finish.

One of the features that stood out to me is the ultra-thin design which measures 0.2mm. The thin design allows the user to hardly feel the cover on the trackpad, making it easy to apply and remove without leaving any residue.

However, my experience with this product left me disappointed. Firstly, the Mektron Trackpad Protector affected the touchpad's sensitivity when tapping or clicking, which was frustrating. Secondly, the cover did not fit perfectly and left gaps around the edges, allowing dust and dirt to get underneath the cover.

One reviewer complained that the cover was too large for the MacBook Pro 16” 2021, while the other mentioned the adhesive was too strong, and it left a sticky residue.

Despite the negative reviews, some positive points make the Mektron Anti-Scratch Trackpad Skin Trackpad Protector Cover a decent option to consider for owners of the MacBook Pro 16” 2021 model. The cover is affordable and provides scratch protection for the trackpad and palm rest. It's also easy to install and won't leave any residue when removed.

In conclusion, while the Mektron Anti-Scratch Trackpad Skin Trackpad Protector Cover may be a good solution for some MacBook Pro 16” 2021 users, it's undoubtedly not for everyone. If you're planning to invest in this product, it is essential to consider the potential drawbacks and weigh them against the benefits. For me, I will stick to using a simple microfiber cleaning cloth to clean my MacBook Pro.
