I recently had the pleasure of trying out the KODAK GOLD 200 Film in the 3 pack with GB135-36-Vertical packaging. As someone who is quite picky when it comes to photography products, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with this film from KODAK.
First and foremost, the consistency of the film is excellent. I found that every roll I used produced high-quality images with consistent color representation and exposure levels. This is particularly impressive given that the film is designed for exposure by both daylight and electronic flash. Despite the varied conditions in which I used the film, it consistently delivered excellent results.
One aspect of this film that I particularly appreciated was its processing robustness. This means that the film is able to withstand slight variations in the development process without negatively impacting the final product. As someone who typically develops their own film at home, this was particularly important to me. I found that even if I made slight errors during development, the KODAK GOLD 200 Film was forgiving enough to still produce high-quality images.
In terms of image quality, the KODAK GOLD 200 Film really excels in both sharpness and resolution. I was particularly impressed with how much detail this film was able to capture, even in low light conditions. The high sharpness also meant that lines and edges were very well-defined, which is particularly important for landscape and architectural photography where maintaining the integrity of lines and shapes is crucial.
Another advantage of this film is that it comes in a 3 pack, which is great value for money. Each roll has 36 exposures, so you can get quite a bit of use out of each pack. Additionally, the vertical packaging is quite convenient for storage, making it easy to keep your film rolls organized and protected.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the KODAK GOLD 200 Film and would highly recommend it to any photographer looking for a reliable and high-quality film. The consistency and processing robustness are particularly notable advantages, as is the high sharpness and resolution of the images produced. Whether you're shooting by daylight or electronic flash, this film is sure to deliver excellent results. The value for money of the 3 pack is also worth noting, making this a great option for both amateur and professional photographers alike.
There are, however, a few potential drawbacks to consider. First and foremost, the ISO rating of 200 may not be high enough for some photographers, particularly those who frequently shoot in low light conditions. While I found the film to perform admirably in most lighting situations, there were a few instances where I wished I had a higher ISO film on hand.
Additionally, while the vertical packaging is convenient for storage, it may not be as easy to use in the field as horizontal packaging. Depending on how you carry your film rolls, you may find that the vertical packaging is less accessible or more difficult to manage. This is a relatively minor issue, but worth considering if you're particularly concerned about convenience while shooting.
Lastly, it's worth noting that the KODAK GOLD 200 Film is not the cheapest option on the market. While the 3 pack does offer good value for money, you may still find that it's more expensive than other film options with similar specifications. If you're on a tight budget, this may be a factor to consider.
Despite these potential drawbacks, however, I would still highly recommend the KODAK GOLD 200 Film. Its excellent consistency and processing robustness, coupled with high sharpness and resolution, make it a versatile and reliable option for any photographer. Whether you're shooting portraits, landscapes, or architectural photography, this film is sure to deliver the results you need.
