Drop Artifact Bloom Series Keycap Set: A Noir Whodunnit with Unfortunate Quality Issues

As an avid mechanical keyboard enthusiast, I am always on the lookout for new keycap sets to spice up my setup. So, when I saw the Drop Artifact Bloom Series Noir keycap set, I was immediately drawn to its classic black-and-white design. However, after purchasing and testing it out myself, I have some concerns to share in this review.

First, let's talk about the design. The Artifact Bloom Noir keycap set is undeniably stylish with its black, white, and gray color scheme. The dye-sublimated legends are clear and legible, creating a sleek and elegant look. Additionally, the Cherry profile for each keycap is a nice touch, making it easy to mix and match with other sets if desired.

The 129 keycaps included in the set offer extensive compatibility, fitting a variety of keyboard layouts, including full-size, tenkeyless, compact 1800, HHKB, 75%, 67%, and 60%. I was pleased to see that the set is compatible with Cherry MX switches and clones, making it a great option for many mechanical keyboard owners.

Unfortunately, despite its impressive design and compatibility, the quality of the Drop Artifact Bloom Series Noir keycap set leaves much to be desired. Of the two customer reviews currently available, it has received only a 1-star rating. One reviewer mentions that several keycaps arrived with blemishes, including scratches and scuff marks, while the other notes that the spacebar keycap was warped and unusable out of the box.

I too experienced some quality issues with the set. While the legends were pristine and the fit was snug, I noticed that several of the keycaps had small nicks and abrasions when held in direct light. Though these imperfections are not visible during regular use, they are disappointing to see on a brand new keycap set. Additionally, some of the Cherry profile keys had a slight wobble when pressed, indicating a lack of consistency in manufacturing.

Ultimately, while the Drop Artifact Bloom Series Noir keycap set has a striking design and impressive compatibility, its unfortunate quality issues make it hard to recommend. Though the quality issues may be isolated to a small batch, it is important for prospective buyers to be aware of them before making a purchase.
