This is a decent lens if its on sale. The only reason its getting a mediocre rating is because at full pricec I simply cant see it being that much better than the excellent Nikon 50mm f/1.8G. The 1.8G is a flat out bargainc and is the main reason many people might choose not to purchase the 1.4G. br brI own bothc and spent some time testing both lensesc and in most instances the 1.8G is as good or better. On the plus sidec the lens focuses fairly quicklyc and opens up to f/1.4 when you need it. Its slightly heavier than the 1.8c but not so heavy to weigh you down. I think its a decent lens to have if you get it at a great pricec otherwise id get the 1.8 and save the difference for something else.
